Arrival into Cairo. Your guide will meet you at the airport, and take you to hotel to rest up. Welcome dinner. Stay in Cairo for 3 nights.
JULY 26
Visit Memphis, the capital of ancient Egypt. See the colossal statue of Ramses II. See the Step Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara. See the magnificent Great Pyramids of Giza - Cheops, Chephren and Menkaure. Have a panoramic picture of three pyramids before seeing the Great Sphinx.
JULY 27
Drive 2.5 hours to Alexandria, which is the most important coastal city built by Alexander the Great. Visit the Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa. Pompey’s Pillar, constructed in honor of Emperor Diocletian in AD 297. Bibliotheca Alexandriana, which is a huge modern library and research center constructed on the site of the former Library of Alexandria, which was destroyed in 400 AD. Outside view of Qaitbay Citadel, built in 1480 by Sultan Qaitbay on the site of Pharos Lighthouse, to protect the city from the crusaders. Return to Cairo.
JULY 28
The morning takes us to Old Cairo. St. Sergius and Bacchus Coptic Orthodox Church, which contains the cave where Mary, Joseph and Jesus hid from the Romans. The Hanging Church, one of the oldest Coptic churches in Egypt. Ben Ezra Synagogue, located on the site where baby Moses was found according to local folklore. Afternoon visit at National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC). See the Royal Mummies – 18 kings and 2 queens from the 17th until the 20th dynasty. Evening flight from Cairo to Aswan. Stay in Aswan for 2 nights.
JULY 29
Visit the High Dam, which took 10 years to complete. View of the Unfinished Obelisk to see how ancient Egyptians cut these huge stone pillars. Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. During sunset, we enjoy a felucca boat cruise to Nubian Village.
JULY 30
3.5 hour drive from Aswan to Abu Simbel in the early morning. Visit the Great Temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Nefertari on the western bank of Lake Nasser. Return to Aswan to embark on a cruise. Stay on Nile Cruise for 3 nights.
JULY 31
Sail to Kom Ombo Temple, dedicated to 2 gods - Haroeris and Sobek. Continue on cruise towards Edfu.
AUGUST 1
Morning visit at the Great Temple of Edfu, which is believed to be built on top of the location where the infamous battle of Horus, the falcon god, and Seth, the god of chaos, took place. Continue on cruise for the rest of afternoon towards Esna. After crossing the Esna Lock, continue towards Luxor. Walk among the pillars of the colossal Temple of Amon Ra, then the Luxor Temple, which is dedicated to the Theban triad - Amon, Mut and Chons.
AUGUST 2 East Bank of the Nile. After cruise disembarkation, we visit Karnak Temple, known as the “Temple of All Temples” in Egypt. See the obelisks, the sacred lake and the great hypostyle hall. Observe the solar eclipse at 13:05 / 1:05 pm at Karnak Temple. Stay in Luxor for 2 nights.
AUGUST 3
West Bank of the Nile. Visit Valley of the Kings, which is the burial place for most of the Pharaohs of the New Kingdom period. Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Dire el-Bahary. Colossi of Memnon. Late afternoon flight from Luxor to Cairo. Transfer to hotel. Stay in Cairo for 2 nights.
AUGUST 4
Morning visit at the brand new Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). See the middle coffin, inner coffin and death mask of King Tutankhamun. Salah el-Dine Citadel that overlooks Cairo. Khan El-Khalili Bazaar. Farewell dinner.
AUGUST 5
Transfer to the airport for your flights.
