An immersive food and wine tour through the finest culinary regions of Northern Italy. Beginning in Turin, guests explore Piedmontese gastronomy through cooking classes, historic cafés, and tastings of grissini, Gianduiotto, and Freisa wine. The journey continues to the Langhe hills — UNESCO heritage vineyards, white truffles, tajarin pasta, and the birthplace of Slow Food. A mountain detour to Aosta unveils extreme alpine wines and Fontina cheese. The Ligurian coast offers pesto and Focaccia di Recco, before a final stop in Vercelli's rice fields exploring risotto, panissa, and rare Alpine specialties. Ending in Milan.
Tuesday, September 11
Arrival at Milan Malpensa Airport. Transfer to Turin by private car or train. Settle into your hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening among the city’s refined cafés and elegant boulevards. Stay in Turin for 5 nights.
Wednesday, September 12
Immerse yourself in Piedmontese cuisine with a hands-on cooking class. Discover traditional recipes and enjoy a walk through central Turin to learn the story of the Bicerin and the origins of the tramezzino, born from Turin’s famous pancarré bread.
Thursday, September 13
A day dedicated to the city’s iconic flavors: taste artisanal grissini, savor the renowned Gianduiotto, and explore the distinctive character of Freisa wine through guided tastings.
Friday, September 14
Visit a traditional dairy and countryside agriturismo to discover the rural culinary heritage of Piedmont. Learn about local cheesemaking traditions and enjoy regional specialties surrounded by vineyard landscapes.
Saturday, September 15
Excursion to Aosta, in the heart of the Alps. Visit a unique mountain winery to discover “extreme wines” and rare pre-phylloxera vines grown on their original roots. Taste the celebrated Fontina before returning south.

Sunday, September 16
Discover Alba and the heart of the Langhe region. Learn about the origins of the Slow Food movement, enjoy freshly made tajarin pasta, and explore the history of the prized Piedmont IGP hazelnut. Stay in/near Alba for 3 nights.
Monday, September 17
A day among vineyards and wineries: an introduction to the history of wine and vine cultivation, with visits to local estates and tastings set against the rolling UNESCO-listed hills of the Langhe.
Tuesday, September 18
The great star of the region: the White Truffle of Alba. A special experience dedicated to this iconic delicacy, rich in aroma, tradition, and the culture of the Langhe countryside.
Wednesday, September 19
Transfer to Liguria along the scenic coastline. Introduction to Ligurian culinary traditions, with a focus on the famous Focaccia di Recco filled with fresh cheese. Sleep in Liguria for two nights.
Thursday, September 20
Hands-on pesto-making using mortar and fresh basil, following traditional Ligurian techniques. Tasting paired with excellent local wines such as Vermentino. Overnight in Liguria.
Friday, September 21
Transfer to the Vercelli area, surrounded by the rice fields of Piedmont. Discover the history of rice cultivation and enjoy a tasting of the hearty local specialty, panissa. Stayt in the Vercelli area for 2 nights.
Saturday, September 22
Excursion into the hills around Biella to discover lesser-known Piedmontese flavors, including ratafià liqueur, salam d’la duja, and mocetta, each deeply rooted in Alpine tradition.
Sunday, September 23
Transfer to Milan Malpensa Airport for your return flight, bringing home the unforgettable flavors and traditions of Northern Italy.
Terry is a deaf American with Italian bloodlines who now lives in Rome, Italy. After graduating from Gallaudet University, he came to Europe in search of “la dolce vita” (the sweet life). In 2002 he established Hands On Travel to share his love of Europe with deaf travelers. His passions are traveling, reading, food, and sports.
Serafino, a deaf Italian born and raised in Turin, in the northwest part of Italy. Serafino has worked with Hands On Travel since 2004 and has provided countless memories for all participants on our tours with thanks to his wide knowledge and experience of Italian history and culture. Be sure to learn his famous tiramisu recipe while you are on his tour!
