We explore the best of Southern France, including the French Riviera and Provence, and end in the fascinating Basque Country between France and Spain followed by Bordeaux.
Monday, October 4
Our group meets in the morning. We suggest arriving one day earlier to rest and recover from jet lag. Visit the Chagall Museum, Old Town Nice, and the pleasant town of Antibes. Welcome dinner. Stay in the Nice/Antibes area for 2 nights.
Tuesday, October 5
Take an all-day driving tour to visit the glitz of Monaco including the Princes' Palace and the casino. Also we go to visit the beautiful gardens of the Villa Ephrussi Rothschild.
Wednesday, October 6
Drive to Cassis where we take a cruise to visit the gorgeous calenques. Continue on to Marseilles. Stay 2 nights in Marseilles.
Thursday, October 7
Sightsee Marseilles all day today with a local deaf guide, including the Notre-Dame Basilica, the Mucem Museum, and wandering its fascinating back streets.
Friday, October 8
Drive through eastern Provence, taking a driving tour through Roussillon, Gordes, St. Remy, and Les Baux. Stay in Fontvieille for 2 nights.
Saturday, October 9
Visit the Pont du Gard Aqueduct then return to Arles to be guided around by a deaf local.
Sunday, October 10
Transfer to Carcassonne, stopping by Nimes to visit the Temple of Diana and the Forum. In Carcassonne, with a local deaf guide we will appreciate the well-preserved medieval town with its defense walls intact. Overnight in Carcassonne.
Monday, October 11
Drive to Toulouse and tour the city all day today with deaf local guides including the historic center, the aerospace museum, and the Machine Hall. Stay in Toulouse for 2 nights.
Tuesday, October 12
Drive up to Albi to visit the Toulouse-Lautrec museum and Montauban for the Ingres museum. Return to Toulouse in the afternoon.
Wednesday, October 13
We drive to San Sebastian. Afternoon guided tour of San Sebastian with a local deaf guide, including pintxos tasting.
Thursday, October 14
We visit Bilbao including the famous Guggenheim Museum, an architectural marvel, and the old city center.
Friday, October 15
Day free to relax and take in the delights of San Sebastian.
Saturday, October 16
Drive to Bordeaux. On the way we stop by French Basque Country including St. Jean de Luz, Bayonne and Biarritz with a local deaf guide. Stay in Bordeaux for 2 nights.
Sunday, October 17
Tour the city of Bordeaux today with a deaf guide. Taste some of the world’s most famous wines in the afternoon. Farewell dinner.
Monday, October 18
Transfer to Bordeaux airport for your flights.
